Standard First Aid Courses

Standard First Aid (Intermediate First Aid) with CPR and AED certification is available at our First Choice Learning Center site in Richmond. For organizations and businesses, we also deliver this training across the Lower Mainland directly at your workplace, making it easy and convenient for your team to get certified.

Participants will learn both theory and hands-on skills in a wide range of first aid techniques. Key topics include:

Preparing to Respond: Learn a variety of rescue techniques using hands-on equipment.
The EMS System: Understanding the emergency medical services framework.
Check, Call, Care: Essential steps for assessing and addressing emergencies.
Airway Emergencies: Managing blocked or compromised airways.
Breathing and Circulation Emergencies: Recognizing and responding to breathing and heart-related crises.
First Aid for Respiratory and Cardiac Arrest: Administering life-saving interventions.
Wound Care: Treating cuts, scrapes, and more serious injuries.
Head and Spine Injuries: Safeguarding against potential spinal damage.
Bone, Muscle, and Joint Injuries: Providing care for fractures, sprains, and strains.
Sudden Medical Emergencies: Addressing seizures, diabetic emergencies, and more.
Environmental Emergencies: Managing heatstroke, hypothermia, and other environmental risks.
Poisoning: Identifying and responding to toxic exposures.

Course Duration (Blended)

Approximately 14–16 hours over two consecutive days one day one (self learning) and one day in class, with scheduled breaks for snacks, coffee, and meals. Our training centers are conveniently located near a variety of amenities.

Certification

After completing the course, participants will receive a nationally accredited Standard First Aid with AED certification. The certification is valid for three years and includes CPR and AED training. Please note, some schools and employers may require yearly recertification.

Is CPR included in the Standard First Aid course?

Yes! All our Standard First Aid courses include CPR Level C and AED training at no extra cost. You’ll receive full certification in both first aid and CPR-C upon successful completion.

How long is the certificate valid?

All successful participants receive a certificate that is valid for 3 years. Renewal is easy with our Standard First Aid Recertification courses.

What’s the difference between Emergency and Standard First Aid?

Emergency First Aid is a 1-day basic course, while Standard First Aid is a 2-day comprehensive program that covers more topics and is required by many employers.

Do I need prior experience to take this course?

No experience is necessary. This course is ideal for beginners and those looking to renew or upgrade their skills.

Can I complete the Standard First Aid course online?

For Blended courses, there is online modules to complete and One day 8 hours training in class.
In booking section – change timing to 9 to 5pm (instead of 30 mins) for standard first aid
And for emergency first aid – 9 to 1.30
For CPR course 9 to 12
