Frequently Asked Question
CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) is a life-saving technique used during emergencies when someone’s heartbeat or breathing has stopped. It involves chest compressions and, in some cases, rescue breaths to maintain circulation and oxygenation until professional help arrives. Early CPR can significantly improve the chances of survival in cardiac arrest situations.
CPR courses are beneficial for anyone who wants to be prepared to respond to emergencies. They are especially recommended for parents, caregivers, teachers, coaches, and workplace safety officers. Some employers and educational institutions may require CPR certification as part of their safety protocols.
The primary difference lies in the level of CPR training:
- CPR-A: Designed for the general public, focusing on adult CPR and AED use.
- CPR-C: Intended for individuals who need CPR training for their job or regulatory requirements. It includes CPR for adults, children, and infants, as well as AED training.
CPR certifications are typically valid for 3 years. After this period, recertification is necessary to ensure skills remain current. Some employers and educational programs may require annual recertification.
CPR courses generally include:
Theoretical instruction: Understanding the principles of CPR and AED use.
Practical skills: Hands-on practice with mannequins to learn chest compressions, rescue breaths, and AED operation.
Assessment: Demonstrating competency in CPR techniques to receive certification.
Courses are designed to be interactive and provide real-life scenarios to ensure participants are well-prepared to respond in emergencies.
